Bunglon, Jun 7 : A one-day Motivational Seminar-cum-Career Guidance was held at Bunglon High School in Churachandpur District today. About 65 career conscious students have participated in the Seminar.
Delivering the key-note address, Pu Soizalal, ZEO (Retd) emphasis the need for giving career guidance to the students. Saying that, the world has become very competitive, the retired ZEO emphasis the need for inculcating professionalism among the students. He noted that this type of Seminar is the right forum to give guidance to the students for their future career.
Speaking on the theme, ‘Career in Mass Media’, Rinkoo Khumukcham, Joint Editor, ISTV Network encouraged the students to join courses before taking journalism as a profession. Maintaining that, journalism is highly specialized subject, a person choosing this profession should be very sincere and courageous. He asked the students to write essays and compositions to harness their skills if one is interested for the job. Replying to a question, one can study journalism from any streams of subject, be it from Political Science, Histroy, etc., he said.
Ibomcha Sharma, Guest Faculty, Department of Mass Communication, outlined a number of career opportunities to the students while speaking on the topic “Emerging Alternative Careers”. Maintaing that, no profession is too bad nor other profession is too good, each profession has its way of goodness. No profession is inferior to others, he said and encourage the students to excel in their own chosen field. Laying out emerging careers such as Lab technician, nursing, management, journalism, computer science etc before the students, he added that ‘everybody cannot be at the top’. ‘Hard work is the key to success in one’s profession’, he concluded.
The message of today’s Seminar is loud and clear – ‘rural youth and students also have dreams and aspirations’ said Gin Gangte, who moderated the session and led the gathering in voicing ‘yes, we can’.
Imphal, May 19 : The Democratic Students Alliance Manipur (DESAM) has cautioned the state government that if the ZEO of Zone II is not taken out from his duty till 20th May then the students union will held several kinds of agitation which will be the responsible of ZEO and the state government.
Talking to media person the education secretary of the students union alleged that the ZEO Imphal East Kh. Amuba is not qualified as ZEO since if a ZEO is appoint then he/she should be regular D.I. incharge for atleast 5 years which he do not have that.
DESAM further maintained that the ZEO has violated the RR and regarding clarification which was made by ZEO that he did not utilized any teachers during their normal duty time, the students union said that it is totally wrong since according to an order from Additional Secretary Education, Department of Manipur, Harekrishnna that every teachers who are teaching in the primary or higher secondary education should start their duty from around 9 am till evening.
So, it is obvious that the teachers who doesn`t work in the morning but in the evening are utilized.
Therefore, the students have asked the government to restricted the said ZEO from Imphal East immediately.
In the meantime the ZEO has already gave clarification which said that the government should decide the rules and regulation under its policy. And further said whether he is qualified or not to appoint as ZEO under RR of the state education (S) department is depend on the policy of the government.
And he had been appointed as DI of the education (S) department when the RR allowing a lecturer can become a DI of the department and by an order of the state government Amu said.
And also the need of participation of the administration of the department by the lecturers for bringing quality education in the state.
