Career guidance held for students of DBHSS Senapati

Dimapur, May 31 : A one day Seminar on Career guidance was held for Students of Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School (DBHSS) Senapati jointly organized by Student Mobilization Initiative for Learning through Exposure SMILE (IGSSS) and YES Manipur Network. Around 200 students participated.

The programme began with keynote address and introduction by Peter Adani, YES Co-ordinator, Manipur Network.

He emphasized on the need of proper guidance and career counseling to the youths as the need of the hour for youth employment and youth engagement as SMILE and YES is working on. Gracing the Seminar Nidhi Kesarwani, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati addressed the first session on Career in Civil Services.

She elaborately advised the students to read various journals and newspapers which have a relevancy for civil service exams.

In the second session Maj. Prasannan, Company Commander, 22nd AR Senapati talked on the career in Indian Army. While inspiring the students to take the sacrificial career in defense for the safety of the country encourages the students to study hard.

He highlighted the various exams to enter into Indian Army Service and also distributed the pamphlets and posters of the Indian Army to the students. Dr. Jacob Pao, Medical Officer, Senapati he talked on medical exams. The required qualifications to enter in medical profession and also thoroughly touched in other job avenues in medical services like nursing, pharmacists etc.

M.S Jerome talked on the subject of entrepreneurship development, it is different from the white collar job, it is more concern of self employment and incomes in return give happiness, satisfaction and leadership.

It has motives of gaining profit, expanding your business, leadership building etc. One should be positive, SWOT analysis, resources, knowledge, strength, determination, capital.

Nehemiah Rong, YES Member Manipur Network gave a presentation on Careers in Media. He highlighted on the scope of Media Industry in India and various jobs available in Electronic Media and Print Media.

Heni Ahrai, Advisor YES Manipur Network and Augustine Ngatuba Coordinator SMILE (IGSSS) highlighted on YES and SMILE programmes, prospects and organizational profiles with the students.

Every session was followed by an interaction with the students. The Seminar ended at 3 pm with words of thanks from Fr. Sisou John, Vice Principal DBHSec. School Senapati.
