Do not communalise issues : KSO

Imphal, May 12 : THE KUKI Students' Organisation (KSO), Churachandpur district has taken strong exception to the statement of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) in which the UNLF had said that some persons of the Kuki tribe were colluding with the security forces to eliminate Meitei innocent people.

Reacting to the statement, President of KSO, CCpur Paokai Haokip and General Secretary , Seiboi Haokip today stated in a press release titled "UNLF's Uncensored Remarks" that "as in other parts of the world's conflict- zone, in Manipur too, the game played by the state and non-state actors have seriously impaired the natural growth of the state nearing its sudden demise".

The press release said, "Therefore, it is the bounden duty of all right-thinking citizens and the insurgent groups to stand up for a peaceful negotiated settlement of the problems that besieged the state".

"The KSO (CCpur) express its disapproval and resentment at the provocative and rhetorical remarks spread by the outfit UNLF, in the wake of the reported arrest of one Kh Megha by the Assam Rifles at Moreh".

It further stated, "Unlike the appreciable press statement of the RPF, the contemptuous and hate-filled raw propaganda of the UNLF once again reveals their true nature.

It is really disgusting and cynical to read the statement containing unwanted terms such as 'wicked Kukis, Kuki Scoundrels, to murder Meiteis, to drive off Meiteis, etc.' just to whip up passions and thus sharpen communal polarization".

The press release affirmed that "KSO is of the view that there should be no communalising or branding of the issue.

What is required is an impartial enquiry.

Given the past records of the UNLF, the KSO express again and again its denouncement and shock over the mass rape of Hmar women at Parbung area followed by the mass exodus to Mizoram, the mass kidnapping of civilians to Myanmar which led to the sufferings of the Kuki students in Delhi, the failed attempts to control and create communal tension at Moreh, the hardships and threats given upon the people of Heirok in the valley and of late the diktats intimidated to the MU authorities and students regarding MUSU's election imbroglio".

"The KSO calls upon the people to weed out those pseudo-nationalists, who self proclaim to fight for the people and the land," the press release added.
