Deori students demand full autonomous council

 JORHAT, March 30 – All Assam Deori Students’ Union has ddemanded the dismissal of the present Deori Autonomous Council and contruction of a full-fledged body immediately through proper election. In a press meet on Thursday, Lalit Deori, adviser of AADSU, Kesab Deori, president of AADSU and Hargovind Deori, general secretary, AADSU, asked for a probe of scams instituted by the officials of the existing body. They also demanded textbooks for LP school, and appointment of Deori language teachers.

At the press meet, the AADSU office bearers alleged that the executive members of the Deori Autonomous Council misappropriated money under the patronage of Pitambar Deori, chief executive member, and Mahesh Deori, deputy chief executive member of the autonomous council. Further, they demanded the expulsion of the members of the autonomous council from the proposed full fledged body. The AADSU asked the Government to stop financial assistance to the autonomous council till the completion of the investigation into the alleged anomalies is over.
