NSUD collaborates on peace, justice issues

Dimapur: The Third eye (Society for Justice and Peace in India) in collaboration with Naga Student’ Union Delhi have for the first time initiated a platform where issues pertaining to bringing about peace and justice in the Northeast, Kashmir and Dalits issue was raised together under one roof.

“For Justice and Peace in India” a seminar was held Saturday at Constitution club, Rafi Marg Delhi from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm to discuss oppression in India with special reference to Dalits, Kashmir and the North east issue (role of civil society, militarization in the area, alternatives and conclusion to bring peace in North East India and Nagalim).

Vivek Kumar, secretary of JNU Teachers’ Association was the key speaker at the seminar. Kumar has a considerable contribution for Dalit movement and has been fighting for the rights of the Dalits for long.

Others who spoke at the seminar include Sanjoy Hazarika, Associate Professor of Delhi University. Professor Hazarika is an expert on the North East and has in the past spoken on several occasions on issues on the North East.

Professor Hazarika at the seminar once again gave emphasis on the conflict situation in India with special context to the Nagas. Dr. Athiko Kaisii, Associate professor of Jamia University shared the Conclusion and Alternatives to bring about Justice and peace in India.

The Third Eye is a society for justice and peace in India formed by likeminded youths from all over India like Andhra, Pune, NE, and south India etc.

The youth felt the need for having a platform where the entire oppressed and minorities can come together and fight for Peace and justice in India. Nagas also felt the need to be part of the struggle and are very much a part of Third eye, it was informed.

The aims and objectives of The Third eye society are to take up the issues on Kashmir, Northeast India, Dalits and minorities in India
